Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee

Kionne McGhee grew up in South Dade public housing and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Howard University and a Juris Doctorate from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

He was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2012 for Florida House District 117 and served as the Minority Leader from 2018 to 2020, when he was elected as Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 9.

Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee is set to deliver urgently needed relief support to Florida’s West Coast in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Milton. As a survivor of Hurricane Andrew, Commissioner McGhee understands the long-lasting challenges faced by storm victims and is committed to ensuring that the hardest-hit communities receive the help they need.

Commissioner McGhee announces District 9 Halloween Community Tour

Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee is excited to announce the District 9 Halloween Community Tour, starting Oct. 17 through Oct. 31, at various locations throughout the district. The tour will bring families together for an unforgettable Halloween celebration with activities that include candy bags, kids’ fun zone, pizza, music and games. These events are free and open to the public.
