Toss It. Done.</h3> Our Bulky Appointment System allows you to select the day your trash is collected. Gone is the 1-8 day pickup window after scheduling. Now you pick the date, schedule your appointment, place the bulky pile at the curb (no more than 3 days in advance of your appointment) and we’ll take care of the rest. It’s that simple. Book It. Toss It. Done! Customers can request bulky waste service by <a href="https://311.miamidade.gov/311/s/?c__st=BULKAPPT">scheduling a pickup online</a> or by calling 311. The request to schedule a bulky waste pickup must be made before placing trash at the curbside for collection. Each household is entitled to two bulky waste pickups per year of up to 25 cubic yards each. If the bulky waste pile exceeds 25 cubic yards and you choose to combine your two pickups, you will exhaust your next available pickup. Custom Bulky Appointment System Instructions <ul> <li>You can make an appointment online through the MDC Solid Waste App (available for download for free at the <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mdc-solid-waste/id1437278700?mt=8">Apple iTunes</a> or the <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gov.miamidade.mdcsolidwaste&hl=en_US">Google Play</a> app stores), <a href="https://311.miamidade.gov/311/s/?c__st=BULKAPPT">scheduling a pickup online</a> or calling 311.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Schedule your appointment first. That way you can be assured that the date you want is available and avoid a warning from code enforcement. Once your appointment is confirmed, you can place your trash at the curb no more than 3 days before your appointment date.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Be sure to place your trash at the curb by 7 a.m. on your appointment day.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>The Bulky Appointment System calendar will have appointments available 30 days in advance.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>If you need to cancel your appointment, you can do so online, via the app or by calling 311. The cancellation request must be received 2 days prior to your appointment. The locations are open daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for household trash disposal needs.</li> </ul>

Requirements <ul> <li>Place your trash at the curbside no more than three days in advance of your bulky appointment date. If you place your trash at the curb on your appointment date, it must be at the curb by 7 a.m.</li> <li>Trash should be placed within 10 feet of the street and at least five feet from mailboxes, parked cars, trees, utility poles, sprinkler heads and other obstructions that might be damaged by the collection equipment.</li> <li>A 15-foot clearance is required from the ground to the lowest hanging tree branch or power line.</li> <li>Tree limbs in the pickup pile should be no more than five feet long.</li> <li>Only up to three cubic yards of wooden fence is allowed. </li> </ul>

Custom Duplex Owners Duplex owners have the option to combine up to four bulky waste pickups into 1 pickup of up to 100 cubic yards. Anything in excess of 25 cubic yards per pickup will exhaust the next available pickup. This means if you set out 35 cubic yards, the additional 10 yards will exhaust pickups #1 and #2. You will then have 2 pickups remaining.

Custom Excess Yardage If you have used your available bulky waste pickups or you have more than 50 cubic yards for collection, you can use one of the following options to manage your bulky trash: <ul> <li>Take your trash to one of the 13 Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers.</li> <li>Inquire about for-fee bulky waste service. An <a href="https://forms.miamidade.gov/260223820458049" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Excess Yardage Approval form</a>, signed by the property owner, is required for the removal of excess bulky waste.</li> <li>Contact a private hauler to remove the excess trash for a fee.</li> </ul>

Custom Acceptable Items <ul> <li>Furniture - sofas, chairs, tables, cabinets and carpets (must be rolled).</li> <li>White goods or appliances - stoves, refrigerators, freezers (refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed), water heaters, washing machines, dryers.</li> <li>Mattresses - must be fully encased in a plastic mattress bag or sleeve and sealed with weather-resistant tape, such as packing tape or duct tape. The box spring does not have to be encased. Violations may result in a fine</li> <li>Fences - chain link and wooden fences must be rolled and no higher than five feet. Only up to three cubic yards of wooden fence is allowed.</li> <li>Tree cuttings - must be no more than five feet in length.</li> <li>Construction and demolition materials -kitchen cabinets, bathtubs, sinks and vanities steel, concrete, glass, brick, asphalt, roofing material, lumber, drywall and tile limited to no more than 3 cubic yard (a pile no larger than 6 green 96-gallon waste carts).</li> <li>Disabled power tools – i.e. lawnmowers (they must be completely free of fluids such as motor oil or gasoline).</li> </ul>

Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers

home-property trash-recycling all-residents in-person-only Trash and Recycling Centers allow for disposal of larger types of household trash and debris.   Drop off household trash, tree and yard cuttings, and up to three cubic yards of construction and demolition debris, at one of 13 Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers. Most centers will also accept up to four standard automobile tires and white goods (old stoves, refrigerators, water heaters, washers, dryers, freezers, etc.). The disposal of garbage (food or kitchen waste) at these centers is prohibited. Eligibility & Requirements Present a valid State of Florida driver's license or identification card to verify your property address. Your license will be scanned into a handheld device by the waste attendant to determine if the address on the license or ID is a match against an eligible property address in our customer database. This will ensure that only the Department's waste fee customers are able to use the TRCs. Only residential waste fee customers who reside in unincorporated Miami-Dade County and the cities of Aventura, Cutler Bay, Doral, Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Opa-locka, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, Sunny Isles Beach and Sweetwater may use these facilities. Custom Oversize Vehicles and Trailers Oversize vehicles and trailers cannot be used at Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers. Waste collection is provided twice each week and recycling every other week. Customers can schedule two bulky waste pickups each calendar year and have access to 13 Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers and two Home Chemical Collection Centers. Solid Waste Management owns and operates three landfills and three Regional Transfer Stations for waste disposal. Permits for general haulers, landscapers and tire generators are also issued as part of the services. Custom What does and what does not go in your cart Place these items in your green waste cart: Your wheeled cart is designed to hold all of your household garbage and trash (including grass, leaves and yard trimmings). Bag your household garbage, trash and yard clippings/waste before placing them in the cart. Do not use the green waste cart for these items: oversized trash such as furniture and household appliances, rocks, dirt, tile, construction or demolition debris, free-flowing liquids, flammables, automobile batteries, propane tanks or other home chemical waste. Large items may be disposed of at a <a href="/global/service.page?Mduid_service=ser1464797123341331">Trash and Recycling Center</a> or by <a href="https://311.miamidade.gov/311/s/?c__st=BULKAPPT" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scheduling a bulky waste pickup</a>. Home chemicals and propane tanks may be disposed of at one of our <a href="/global/service.page?Mduid_service=ser1464798615648535">Home Chemical Collection Centers</a>.

Custom Guidelines Place your green waste cart at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Place the cart within 3 feet of the street and at least 5 feet from mailboxes, parked cars or other obstacles. The wheels must face your home. The cart's lid must be closed for collection purposes. No service will be provided for carts that have anything protruding from the top of the cart. Don't stack items on top of or alongside your waste cart - they can't and won't be collected.

Custom Moving into a new home When you move into an existing home, a waste cart should already be there. If you don't find one, call 311 to place an order. You may also call 311 to confirm the account has been updated under your name. If it has not, you will be required to provide proof of ownership such as a copy of your warranty deed or your closing statement. If you're the owner of a newly-constructed home, call the department’s Residential Billing Unit at 305-594-1630. An account will be created and your waste cart ordered. Carts will not be delivered until the home is occupied, so please order your cart once you've moved in. Until your carts arrive, please place garbage in garbage bags. Bags placed at the curbside can weigh no more than 50 pounds each.

Custom Service complaint If your garbage is not picked up on your collection day, report the missed pickup by <a href="https://311.miamidade.gov/311/s/">submitting an online service request</a> or calling 311.

Custom Cart repaired, replaced or exchanged Each household is provided with a standard 96-gallon green waste cart. To exchange your standard 96-gallon waste cart for a smaller 35-gallon or 65-gallon cart, call 311. If your waste or recycling cart is damaged in the collection process, call 311 or <a href="https://311.miamidade.gov/311/s/?c__st=SWMGARBG">report a damaged green waste cart online</a> and Miami-Dade County will repair or replace your cart free of charge. If your cart is damaged because of misuse, modification or placement of unacceptable materials, you will be responsible for purchasing a replacement cart at a cost of $68. If your cart is stolen, call the police department (non-emergency number) and obtain a case number. Then contact 311 with the police case number. A replacement cart will be delivered to you at no charge.

Custom Signing up for additional waste cart service Customers may request additional waste cart service for an annual fee. The additional waste cart service fee is charged per cart, per year.

Custom Manual collection Residents who receive manual waste collection do not use green waste carts for garbage collection. You can set out cans (up to 30 gallons) and tied plastic bags no later than 7 a.m. on your twice-weekly collection days. Trash, including yard clippings, must be canned, bagged or bundled in lengths of up to 4 feet using twine, rope or duct tape. Each can, bag or bundle must weigh less than 50 pounds. Curbside manual garbage pickup is available on each service day, rain or shine. Waste will not be collected on the following holidays as observed by Miami-Dade County government: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday, Independence Day and Christmas. Service after one of these holidays will be provided on your next regularly scheduled collection day.
