Small Business Enterprise Advisory Board - Construction
The Small Business Enterprise Advisory Board – Construction was created for the purpose of providing general program oversight and assisting the Office of Small Business Development (SBD) in tracking and monitoring the results and effectiveness of the Small Business Enterprise (SBE) – Construction program. The advisory board may serve as liaison between program participants and the local business community, recommend additional program incentives, participate in the recruitment of prospective participants for the SBE-Construction program and review and report on the program's progress.
Additionally, the advisory board is responsible for reviewing program activities and results, and for making recommendations to SBD and the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) on matters pertaining to the program. The terms of each member shall be two years, not to exceed eight consecutive years. Members shall serve without compensation. Support staff is provided by SBD. Meetings are held every two months on the third Monday as scheduled on the County calendar.
Board members are appointed by the BCC and shall consist of one of each of the following:
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the Allied Minority Contractors Association, Inc.
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the South Florida Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the BAC Funding Corporation
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the Construction Association of Florida, Inc.
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the Engineering Contractors Association of South Florida, Inc.
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the Latin Builders Association
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the Underground Contractors Association of South Florida, Inc.
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the Contractors Resource Center
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the CSBE Association
- Member from the list of recommended appointees submitted by the National Association of Black Women in Construction
- A representative of the local bonding industry
- A representative of the local banking and financial industry
- A certified CSBE
