Many banks and financial institutions have started switching to contactless cards to make payments faster and more secure for their customers. Check with your card issuer if you're not sure if your card is contactless. If you do not have a contactless card, you can link an existing bank card to your digital wallet and use your smartphone or smartwatch/wearable.
- DTPW accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express contactless-enabled bankcards, or these payment methods linked via your digital wallet. At this time, the accepted digital wallets include: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Fitbit Pay.Make sure the battery on your mobile phone or wearable is fully charged before beginning your trip. You must always use the same payment device to tap in and out for your trip. For example: Don’t use your iPhone to tap in, and then tap out with your Apple Watch. Even though the same bank card may be linked via both devices, you will be charged as if you are beginning a new trip and you lose the benefit of fare capping.Note: EASY Cards, EASY Tickets, and EASY Pay Mobile Tickets continue to be accepted.
- Simply tap your contactless-enabled bank card flat on the center of the faregate reader to pay your fare and wait for the green light. When boarding Metrobus, tap your contactless-enabled bank card flat on the center of the fare box reader to pay your fare.Tap your device – your mobile phone or wearable – onto the faregate reader and wait for the green light. When boarding Metrobus, tap your device – your mobile phone or wearable – flat on the center of the fare box reader.
It is recommended you take out your preferred payment method from your wallet to pay your fare in order to avoid card clashing.

- Card clash happens when more than one payment method, including your existing EASY Card, touches the card reader at the same time. It is recommended you take out your preferred payment method from your wallet to pay your fare. Our card readers may deduct the fare from the wrong bankcard as it reads the first payment method it comes in contact with – or it will not read either card and the faregate will not open.
Note: If you’re paying for someone who is travelling with you, you will need to use a different card or device for each person. Don’t tap-in more than once with the same card or device, to avoid being charged an incomplete journey fare each time you tap-in.
If you suspect you have been charged more than once, please contact the EASY Card Contact Center at 786-469-5151, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Offices are closed on weekends and County-observed holidays. - For a period of time as we make system enhancements, some contactless-enabled bank cards issued outside of the United States may not be accepted on our services.
