MIAMI-DADE ( June 28, 2024 )–

The Miami-Dade County International Trade Consortium (ITC) convened a productive meeting with Darlene Chiu Bryant, Executive Director of Global SF, along with Carlos Serrano-Quan and Pablo Wong, CEO of CAMACOL San Francisco, to explore potential collaborations aimed at enhancing trade and innovation between Miami-Dade County and the broader global market.

The discussion centered on key sectors with significant growth potential, including food and beverage, climate tech, and emerging technologies. ITC emphasized the opportunities for collaboration in these dynamic industries, which are expected to play a critical role in shaping the future of international trade, sustainability, and technological innovation. Both organizations expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of working together to strengthen ties between Miami-Dade and San Francisco, as well as exploring cross-sector partnerships in these high-impact areas.

Darlene Chiu Bryant was appointed Executive Director of Global SF by the late San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee and tasked with stimulating economic growth and job creation through bilateral trade and investment between China and San Francisco. Darlene has had a diverse career in both the public and private sectors, having spent a decade in international trade in the fine chemicals sector in Hong Kong before returning to her native San Francisco to work in communications and public affairs for Mayor Gavin Newsom, East West Bank, United Commercial Bank and Pacific Gas & Electric Company. Darlene has been credited with bringing over US $5 Billion dollars in FDI Foreign Direct Investment into the San Francisco Bay Area.

The meeting was part of ITC’s ongoing efforts to foster global relationships that drive economic growth, promote sustainability, and position Miami-Dade County as a leader in emerging industries. The food and beverage sector, for example, represents a growing market in both regions, while climate tech initiatives align with global efforts to combat climate change and promote green innovation. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and biotechnology also offer tremendous potential for future collaboration and investment.

ITC extends a special thank you to ITC Board Member Joe Chi, President of CAMACOL in Miami, for initiating this important dialogue, which has laid the groundwork for future collaboration between ITC, Global SF, and CAMACOL San Francisco. We look forward to working together to unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, and technological advancement in both regions.
