ITC hosted a French delegation led by The Honorable Vincent Languille, Metropolitan Councilor in charge of European Funds and International Relations, and Nicolas Regrigny, Director, Economic Development and International Relations from Aix Marseille Provence Metropol, one of Miami-Dade County’s Sister Cities. ITC Vice Chairman Kevin Marino Cabrera met and welcomed the delegates. They also met with Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Commissioner Keon Hardemon. ITC organized a meeting with PortMiami and with Miami Dade College. The delegates had a fruitful meeting with Pamela Fuertes, Dean, Miguel B. Fernandez Family School of Global Business, Trade & Transportation, Miami Dade College, where they explored potential collaborations with the AI Center, School of Fashion and the Culinary Institute to enhance educational exchanges. We thank Dean Fuertes and Daniel Gourdine for their time and hospitality. Miami-Dade County is structured into 13 districts. The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of unincorporated Miami-Dade County, and has broad, regional powers to establish policies for services that transcend city boundaries. The government provides major metropolitan services countywide and city-type services for residents of the unincorporated areas. The Commissioners set policies and establish laws for the community. Commissioners are chosen in non-partisan, single-district elections. Miami-Dade County is structured into 13 districts. Residents choose only from among candidates running in the district in which they live. Commissioners serve four-year staggered terms, with elections scheduled every two years. The ITC office works closely with Miami-International Airport (MIA) and PortMiami, as well as other partners including foreign diplomatic and trade offices, bi-national chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and local, state and federal government agencies. The office, the consortium and its 14 member organizations and 16 appointees work together to advise County elected officials on international trade issues and help advance the County’s trade efforts worldwide.
