Public housing programs are designed to support individuals and families in need of rental assistance, with eligibility determined by factors such as income, family size, and citizenship status. PHCD works in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to administer these programs, ensuring fair and equitable access to housing for all residents. Rent is based on anticipated gross income, with deductions available for dependents andcertain allowances. Tenants can remain in public housing as long as they comply with lease agreements, and annual income reviews are conducted to determine continued eligibility.
