Learn about the Army Corps of Engineers’ coastal risk management study
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has released its Draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment for Miami-Dade County’s Coastal Storm Risk Management Study, which looks at new ways to manage these risks for beach and other coastal communities. Residents are invited to share their comments the months of November and December during the public comment period.
You can attend two virtual public meetings being held by the Army Corps of Engineers on Wednesday, Nov. 17, where it will present and discuss the study proposals and answer any questions you may have on the draft report.
The study determines proposed beach renourishment projects in certain locations found between Baker’s Haulover Inlet to the north and Government Cut to the south. It also proposes reinforced dunes with tieback walls in Key Biscayne and a series of groins in Bal Harbour.
Details on attending the virtual meetings will be published in the study’s page, where you can also read more details about the reports.
You may also submit your concerns during the public comment period that runs through December 12, 2021. You can email them to [email protected] or send them via mail to:
