July 4th Celebration at Tropical Park
Join us on July 4 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Tropical Park as we celebrate the nation’s birthday and 250 years of people, places, and progress that continue to shape our shared story. This free event brings together everything that makes summer in Miami-Dade special – great music, delicious food, fun activities, spectacular fireworks, and more.
Songs for America
Thank you to Miami-Dade County's Poet Laureate, Nicole Tallman, for hosting a special National Poetry Month performance of Songs for America. Featuring Miami poets Richard Blanco, Oscar Fuentes (The Biscayne Poet), Jen Karetnick, Caridad MoroGronlier, Trey Rhone, Ranijun Ruado, the program commemorated the 250th anniversary of America’s founding through a dynamic integration of poetry and live music.

Museum of Miami - The Voice of the Future Speech Competition
The Museum of Miami is launching a premier high school oratorical competition to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary. In partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the county’s America 250 initiative, the competition offers Miami’s youth a chance to connect the nation’s founding principles with its future. Students are invited to reflect on the meaning of “We the People,” the nation’s shared history, and the enduring power of written and spoken expression as the country marks 250 years of democracy. 250 Civics Academy
As Miami-Dade County celebrates its 250th anniversary, join our free Civic Engagement Classes and be part of shaping the next chapter of our community. Learn how to actively participate in local government and advocate for the issues that matter most. You’ll gain the tools to navigate local and county systems, access community and economic resources, connect with leaders and fellow residents, and build skills in advocacy, public speaking, and media engagement. Open to all experience levels, these classes will help you understand how your voice can drive real change today and for the future of Miami-Dade.

250 Civics Summit
As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, Miami-Dade County Mayor Levine Cava will lead a community connections initiative, launching this summer with the 2026 Mayor’s Civic Connections Summit. This one-day summit will bring together people from across sectors and generations to reflect on our shared history and explore how stronger civic engagement can shape the future. Building on the county’s last major civic gathering, the 2016 One Table Summit, it will highlight successful community practices, invite participants to help shape a shared agenda, and encourage commitments to put ideas into action.
Days of Service
Miami-Dade County’s Days of Service series invites residents to celebrate our nation’s legacy through action. Rooted in the belief that service is a cornerstone of our democracy, these community-wide volunteer events bring people together to give back, strengthen neighborhoods, and build connections across Miami-Dade. Throughout the year, Days of Service will offer opportunities for residents of all ages to support local causes while working alongside fellow residents, community organizations, and County partners. Additional details about volunteer opportunities will be announced.

Flags Across Miami-Dade County
As Miami-Dade County celebrates the United States’ 250th anniversary, Commissioner and America 250 Advisory Committee member Natalie Milian Orbis is championing a community-focused approach to civic engagement and patriotism. She's launching “Flags Across Miami-Dade,” a pilot program in District 6 that provides American flags for residents to display at their homes, bringing the milestone to life in neighborhoods across the community. The initiative encourages civic pride, removes barriers for families and seniors, and may expand countywide as part of the America 250 celebration.
