D ) Transient Protection Device

Refer to Section 620-Grounding and Lightning Protection. Only Surge Protective Devices (SPDs) that are listed on the FDOT Approved Products List (APL) and that meet the Materials requirement of Section 620 (Grounding and Lightning Protection) of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) “Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction” may be used within the Miami-Dade County traffic control and intelligent transportation systems. Use FDOT certified SPDs that and meet all applicable requirements for the equipment being protected unless more stringent requirements to protect existing systems are specified by the Miami-Dade County Traffic Signals and Signs (TSS) Division. Any use-appropriate SPD certified under FDOT APL Section 620 may be used by manufacturers of pre-wired cabinets as long as they meet the manufacturer’s design and performance requirements and all applicable FDOT and TSS Division specifications for the equipment.

E ) Manual Transfer Switch and Emergency Generator Interface

For retrofitting existing Miami-Dade County MD-552 and MD-660 series traffic signal cabinets with an externally mounted enclosure containing a manual transfer switch and emergency generator interface. Product and installation must meet the requirements stipulated in Section 639R (Retrofit of Miami-Dade County Traffic Signal Cabinets with Manual Transfer Switch and Emergency Generator Interface) of the Miami-Dade County Traffic Control Equipment Standards and Specifications.
